But what does that actually look like when you decide to work with us?
Step 1: Let’s Talk About Your Project
The first step is a personalized phone call.
We’ll take the time to learn about your project, your property, and what you’re hoping to accomplish. This initial conversation allows us to understand your goals and determine what information we’ll need to move forward.
We don’t believe in treating a custom project like a one-size-fits-all transaction. We want to understand your vision from the beginning.
Step 2: We’ll Send You Information to Help Determine If We’re a Good Fit
After our initial conversation, we’ll provide information by email to help you better understand our company, our capabilities, our pricing, and what working with West Coast Walls & Gates looks like. We want you to have the information you need to decide whether we’re the right company for your project- Choosing a partner in your project is an important decision.
Step 3: We Meet at Your Property
Once we’ve determined that we may be a good fit, the next step is an on-site meeting. This is where your project really starts to take shape.
We’ll discuss your vision and explore design options while evaluating the property. We’ll talk about:
- Your desired look and overall design
- Measurements and property conditions
- Materials and finishes
- Gates and access-control options, when applicable
- Your desired timeframe
- Any other considerations that could affect the project
This meeting gives us the opportunity to understand not just what you want to build, but how the finished project should work with your property.
Step 4: You’ll Receive a Formal Proposal
After we’ve discussed your project and gathered the necessary information, we’ll prepare a formal proposal outlining the work. There should never be guesswork about what you’re agreeing to.
Step 5: Ready to Move Forward? We’ll Get the Project Underway.
If you decide to move forward, you’ll return your deposit and signed paperwork at which time we move into the engineering and permitting phase of the project.
Step 6: Engineering & Permitting
Our engineer will prepare the necessary plans for your permit, and we’ll submit the plans and apply for the required permit. Because we manage these steps in-house, you don’t have to coordinate multiple companies to figure out who’s handling what. Our team manages the process and keeps your vision moving toward completion.
Step 7: Prepare the Property While We Wait for the Permit
There are also a few things that need to happen on the property while the permit is being processed. You’ll work with your surveyor to verify that the property corners are properly marked. If necessary, additional points along the property line may also need to be marked. Having these locations properly identified before construction begins is an important part of making sure the project is installed in the correct location.
Step 8: It’s Time to Build!
Once the permit is issued, we’re typically ready to begin your project within 2–3 weeks.
From there, the construction timeline depends on the size, scope, and complexity of your project. Every custom project is different, so we’ll provide a realistic timeframe based on the specific work involved.
